ABIM has permanently extended the enrollment deadline for the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®) from June 30 to November 15.
It’s important to keep in mind that enrolling later in the year means less flexibility because fewer questions can be left unopened during the five-year LKA cycle.
If you’re interested, enroll as soon as possible so you have ample time to complete the quarter’s questions and take full advantage of the LKA’s flexibility over its five-year cycle.
As a reminder, LKA participants receive 30 questions each quarter. Over the five-year LKA cycle, participants may leave up to 100 “Life Happens” questions unopened.

Please note:
- LKA enrollment opens for all certification areas on December 1, and questions are available beginning January 1.
- If you enroll from January 1 through November 15, you will begin receiving questions immediately and can respond to them any time before they expire at the end of the quarter.
- Enrolling in the LKA in November means you have only until December 31 to complete the questions for that quarter, or you will not meet the LKA Participation Requirement.
The LKA is designed to offer flexibility and is included in your annual MOC fee at no additional cost. Learn what physicians are saying about the LKA and about how the LKA works on ABIM’s website.
