Physician Driven Change: ABIM’s New Physician Portal

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) collaborated with physicians to design a new  website and Physician Portal to better support them in obtaining and maintaining board certification.  To carry out this work, ABIM convened volunteer physicians from its Community Insights Network—a group of doctors who offer regular feedback on ABIM’s programs—to provide guidance on the enhancements being made.

“When ABIM contacted me about serving on the Physician Advisory Panel to help guide the redesign of its website, I jumped at the chance to volunteer,” said Richard Goy, MD, MPH, board certified in internal medicine and Associate Medical Director of Healthworks at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania. “I felt in the past ABIM may not have always talked with internists to get their input on changes they were making. But through this process I could see ABIM took my opinions – and those of the other internists on the advisory panel – really seriously and made changes to the new website based on feedback we offered. This has been a really positive turn for ABIM that I think is in the right direction.”
