J. Suzanne Moore, MD | Rheumatology Item-Writing Task Force
Dr. Moore is currently an Associate Professor of Rheumatology at East Tennessee State University and the co-course director of Doctoring 2 and 3 for first- and second-year medical students. She spends most of her time in clinic with residents at an academic community-based practice where she can see Bays Mountain from her office. Her practice focuses on patient engagement and education. She is also an advocate for interprofessional coordination of care to promote team-based care and learning.
Dr. Moore has been on the Rheumatology Item-Writing Task Force for two years. “I enjoy working with other item-writers in small groups and receiving feedback, which I find has helped me improve my writing and debriefing skills,” she says. When she was asked if she had any advice for new Item-Writers, she mentioned a time when she was stuck writing a question. “I find that reading more about that topic and the differential diagnosis can help to refocus my thinking and guide me back to writing a fair item.”
In her free time, Dr. Moore volunteers at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee, due to her love of reading classic novels. She also never misses a local art museum when she travels.
