Mark Godfrey, MD | Pulmonary Disease Item-Writing Task Force

Dr. Godfrey received his medical degree from the University of Arizona and completed pulmonary and critical care and interventional pulmonology fellowships at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is currently the Director of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology at Hartford Hospital. You can view his most recent publication online.

Dr. Godfrey has been on the Pulmonary Disease Item-Writing Task Force for three years. When asked what his favorite part of being an Item-Writer is, he stated, “My own practice scope as an interventionalist is fairly focused, and I have really enjoyed meeting colleagues with backgrounds in all areas of pulmonary medicine from around the country. I learn something new every time we meet!” His advice to new Item-Writers is, “Part of item writing is about assessment, but part of it is about teaching and being of service to your colleagues who are reading your items. I sometimes try to find an interesting and relevant teaching point from my own practice and work backward from there.”

In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and spending time with his wife and three young children.
