Dr. Yaqub has been on the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Item-Writing Task Force for one year. “Being able to contribute to the assessment of my peers’ knowledge and skills is an honor for me. I love reviewing medical literature with a specific focus on defining essential concepts that can be used to assess competence of specialists in the field. Being an item-writer is a win-win situation for me as I end up brushing up and refining my knowledge base, which enhances my competence, and at the same time, I am able to be of service to ABIM and the endocrinology community.”

When asked if he has any advice for new writers, he added, “Item-writing in an art that has to be learned before it can be put in practice. New writers should not feel shy to ask for help or advice from ABIM staff and other members of the Item-Writing Task Force. It is the constructive feedback that you will receive from others in the process that will be invaluable in your own professional growth and competence.”

In his free time, Dr. Yaqub enjoys viewing travel blogs and videos as well as visiting local and international tourist destinations. He also enjoys watching movies, following cricket and spending time with his family.
